Bradley A. Sanders Addiction Center (BASAC) is a division of East Mississippi State Hospital, located in Meridian, MS. on a beautiful 63-acre campus. We provide substance use disorder treatment to men ages 18 and older, and currently have a 50-bed capacity. All clients are committed to BASAC through the Chancery Court due to the court determining the need for treatment for drug and/or alcohol use. Our program is based on the Matrix Model and incorporates group and individual therapy, written assignments, 12 step programs, AA/NA/motivational speakers, mindfulness, 24-hour RN nursing care, recreational therapy, and aftercare resources.
Philosophy Of Care
The Matrix Model is an integrative, evidence-based treatment model which incorporates a variety of therapeutic strategies, that combine to produce a proven effective treatment for substance use disorders. BASAC has incorporated the core therapeutic styles and techniques utilized with this model such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, psychoeducation, 12- Step programs, early recovery skills, family education, social support groups and relapse prevention. Our program also provides exposure to speakers from the AA/NA recovery community, and we employ peer support specialists who have substantial periods of sobriety and experience with the recovery process. We also provide residents with the location and times of recovery meetings in their local area and set follow up mental health center appointments for them prior to discharge.
Feedback from current as well as previous residents regarding the effectiveness of our program has been overwhelmingly positive. The Consumer Surveys completed by residents at discharge have yielded consistently positive ratings; follow up phone interviews with families and former clients have reinforced these ratings with many former program participants reporting continuing abstinence from substances and improved quality of life.
